THE DAY YOU DIE
By John Ingram
Written about 1974
Life is sweet, when healthy and well
The last thoughts, are of death or hell
You go about each day with a smile on your face
With never a thought of Gods saving grace.
You work save, you put money in the bank
but never offer to God a Few words of thanks.
Pleasure, sin, the world on your mind
but Jesus, church, Bible, You have no time.
But some day my friend, will come your day to Die
and to God and Jesus you will send out a cry.
Then life won’t be so happy and sweet
Hell will be so near, you can almost feel heat.
No longer will there be a smile on your face
for tears and fear has since taken its place.
Your home, your car, your money in the bank
you would gladly give, if God your life would not take.
Pleasure, sin, the world is now off your mind
you cry and sweat as you run out of time.
Listen my friend, you are happy today
now is the time to kneel and pray
while you are healthy, well and alive
Make this right now, He may not be there the day you die.
