Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Carolyn Judith “Judy” Chitwood, 77 of Rocky Mount, died on Saturday, July 13, 2024 after a long battle of Lewy Body Dementia. Judy was the heart of our family. She was married for 47 years to her beloved late husband, Jewell Nelson Chitwood. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Catherine Hodges; son Steven Michael Hurley; brothers George “Bud” Hodges, Henry “Tommy” Hodges and Allen Wayne “Reb” Hodges.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Nickie (Billy) Goff, Cathy (Rob) Riddlemoser, Crystal Chitwood, Angela Hurley and Jennifer Dillon; best friend for many years Martha Pagans; grandchildren Daniel, Johnathan, Aaron, Brittany, Trevor (Katie), Michael (Destiny), Kylee, Alexis, Chandler, Jacob, Eden, Robert, Chelsea and Alahna; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Henry Fork Community Church with Pastor Ronald Coleman Officiating. Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the church and other times at the home of Trevor and Katie, 382 Leanor St., Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
